For this edition, we followed Jonatas’s preparation in Belo Horizonte (Brazil). 1 week before the event, we helped our colleagues from UFMG adjust the trike and stimulation patterns for the competition in Zurich. Despite many challenges, Jonatas was able to pedal for 8 minutes during the qualification races.
Since 2020, the Cybathlon organizers have decided to introduce a static version of the discipline. In this format, the pilots pedal on a trike mounted on a home trainer and connected to a virtual environment. We chose not to invest time and energy in adapting our trike to this artificial setup. Our goal is clearly to develop solutions for overground pedaling in real-world conditions.
